Upgrading to HighLevel SaaS Pro — the existing-customer playbook

Already on HighLevel Starter or Unlimited and ready to resell as SaaS? Here's exactly how the $497 SaaS Pro upgrade works, what changes, and how to time it so you don't waste a billing cycle.

Funnelab Team 4 min read

If you’re already running HighLevel for clients — even one or two — there’s a point where the math on Pro tips. It usually shows up when you realize you’ve been eating the cost of SMS, email, and AI usage on behalf of clients who’d happily pay for it themselves. That’s the moment to upgrade.

This post is for that moment. Not “should I try HighLevel” — you’re already in. It’s: how does the actual upgrade work, what changes the day it processes, and how do you time it so you don’t burn a billing cycle.

What you actually unlock at $497

The Pro tier is where HighLevel stops being “an agency tool you use” and becomes “an agency tool you resell.” Three categories of upgrade matter most:

1. Rebilling

This is the headline. On Pro, you can charge your clients for the SMS, email, voicemail, AI minutes, and other usage costs that HighLevel passes through to you — at a markup you set. Today on Starter or Unlimited you’re absorbing all of that. On Pro, every client account becomes its own usage P&L.

For a single agency client doing modest SMS volume, this is often $30–80/month of margin you weren’t capturing. Five clients? You’ve covered the upgrade.

2. AI agent rebilling

If you’re using Conversation AI, Voice AI, or AI Employee features on behalf of clients — these have hard usage costs (per-call, per-message, per-minute). Pro lets you mark those up and bill clients. Without Pro, you’re paying for the AI your clients use.

3. Full SaaS Mode polish

White-label dashboard, custom URLs, your branding on the mobile app, your support email instead of HighLevel’s. The features exist on Unlimited too, but Pro tightens the experience your clients see.

The upgrade form itself

The /saasupgrade page is not a sign-up — it’s a form submission. You’ll be asked for:

  1. The name and login email on your existing HighLevel account.
  2. The affiliate link of the partner who referred you (use the betechky link above so the upgrade is correctly credited).
  3. Your agency relationship number (HighLevel uses this to verify which account is upgrading).

There’s no payment form on this page — your existing card on file gets used. HighLevel’s team processes the request, prorates the difference, and emails you confirmation usually within 1–3 business days.

If you submit on a Friday afternoon, expect activation by mid-week. If you submit Monday, you’re usually live by Tuesday or Wednesday.

How to time the upgrade

Two tips that save real money:

Submit early in your billing cycle, not late. If your monthly bill is on the 28th and you submit on the 26th, you’ll get billed proration for two days of Pro on top of finishing the cycle on your old plan — a small but annoying double-up. Better: submit on the 1st-5th of a fresh cycle. Cleaner accounting.

Have your first rebilling client lined up. The upgrade pays for itself fastest when you turn on rebilling for an existing client on the same day Pro activates. Otherwise, you’re paying $200/month more for capability you’re not yet using.

When NOT to upgrade

Pro is a margin play. It’s the wrong move if:

  • You have zero clients yet. Rebilling is the whole upgrade. If there’s no one to rebill, you’re paying $497 for features you can’t monetize.
  • You’re testing whether SaaS Mode fits your business. Use the Pro Trial link first — that one has a free trial. The /saasupgrade form is for people who’ve decided.
  • Your clients are paying you a flat retainer with no usage line items. If you’ve baked SMS/email costs into a fixed monthly fee, Pro’s rebilling features don’t apply. You’d want to renegotiate retainers first.

What to do after the upgrade processes

The day Pro activates, do three things:

  1. Set your rebilling markups. Go to Agency Settings → Rebilling and put real numbers in. Most agencies start at 20–40% over HighLevel’s pass-through cost.
  2. Tell your existing clients. Frame it as “we’re adding direct usage transparency to your dashboard” — not “we’re raising prices.” On their next bill, the line items appear.
  3. Update your sales page. Now you can position your services as SaaS, not as agency retainers. The Pro features unlock pricing models that weren’t available before.

FAQ

Quick answers.

Is there a free trial on the SaaS Pro upgrade?
No — this is an upgrade for existing customers, not a trial path. You're already paying for HighLevel; the upgrade swaps your tier to Pro ($497/month) on your next billing cycle. If you want a trial path, use the Pro Trial link instead.
How long does the upgrade actually take?
HighLevel's team processes upgrade requests in 1–3 business days. During that window your account behaves exactly as it does today — nothing breaks, no features are pulled. The Pro features turn on once the request is processed.
Will my billing date change?
Yes — your billing date resets with proration when the upgrade processes. You'll typically get a small credit for unused days on your current plan, applied against the first Pro charge.
Do my existing sub-accounts and snapshots carry over?
Yes. Everything you've already built — sub-accounts, snapshots, workflows, contacts, calendars — stays exactly as it is. Pro adds new capabilities on top; it doesn't reset or migrate your existing work.
Can I downgrade back later?
Yes, by contacting HighLevel support, but you'd lose access to Pro-only features (Rebilling, AI agent rebilling settings, etc.). Most agencies that upgrade to Pro stay on Pro.
